Root of Dalbergia Parviflora, a thorny, climbing shrub from Borneo (Kalimantan) island, Indonesia. Commonly known as akar/kayu Laka (Laka wood) in Indonesia or kayu Menang (Menang wood) in Malaysia.
Many people believe in the magical powers of this wood. Based on the research, Dalbergia Parviflora containing many bioactive constituents. A red, sticky oil which distilled from the wood can applied to ulcerated wounds, and a decoction of the wood in water is used as a tonic.
The pulverized of this wood is used as a best component of incense or joss sticks. And because of its scented smoke when burned, some people call this wood as gaharu Laka (laka agarwood/aloeswood).
