HISTORY: Founded by Susan Benjamin in 1950, Halcyon Days was initially a small antique shop based on Avery Row in London which specialized in dealing with English antiques, in particular small enamel boxes. It now operates a shop in the Royal Exchange in the City of London.
While the English craft of enameling onto copper flourished during the 18th century, by the 1830s it had almost disappeared, Halcyon Days set about reviving this artisan craft and thus the renowned Halcyon Days enamel box was born. In 1970 Susan Benjamin established a collaboration with one of England's leading silversmiths and a prominent copper enamel company to produce boxes in the spirit of the 18th century under the trade name Bilston and Battersea Enamels, working together to revive this original art. The design, the enamelling quality and character of each piece is true to the artistic workmanship of over two centuries ago. In 1978 Halcyon Days was granted the Royal Warrant of Queen Elizabeth II, followed in 1987 by the Royal Warrants of the Duke of Edinburgh and The Prince of Wales, as the first ever ‘Suppliers of Objets d'Art'.

A bit about vintage...a vintage item is at least 20 years old.
