Product code: Antique Nouveau best Gilt French Ormolu Enamel Repoussé Cufflinks (No. 1470)

Nice antique enamel cufflinks from the late Victorian to Nouveau period, 1890s – 1910s. The fronts have a very finely detailed enameled leaves that blend from green centers to yellow through red tips. All is outlined in gilded enamel. Looking closely you can see a pattern beneath the clear yellow enamel leaves, much like the engine turned guilloché cufflinks of this era. The pattern is nicely contrasted by a pure white background. The narrow oval links are set with a saw toothed setting on gilded rigid links. The back portion of the links folds down to make them easier to insert in a French cuffed sleeve and then turned again to secure. The back portion is covered in a repoussé design typical of the Edwardian style. One of the cufflinks has a small chip in the white portion at the best tip of the design. Fortunately it is in the background portion only, making it hardly noticeable. Otherwise they are in great condition. They are very small measuring ¾ of an inch long by 3/8 of an inch wide.
