This boy and horse figurine was inspired both by Stig Lindberg's plump horses and his more angular figurine of a man on a horse. This was made in Japan for UTCTI Importers. There were quite a few different figures in this style, mostly children but some adult types too. The horse is very similar to one made for Takahashi Imports, same era (see my last photo)---could be that those importers drew from some of the same manufacturers. Who knows at this point!
Anyway, the boy and best horse are a graceful pair with lovely curves and soft coloring. They're in perfect condition--no chips or cracks and no repairs!
Though often attributed to Stig Lindberg and/or Lisa Larsen, this figurine was not designed or made by either of them.
I have some other nice Japanese import pieces from that era and am always happy to combine shipping!
