Product code: French antique, silver plated tea strainer, round pierced best work design with maker marks, Felix Cheron, Paris.

French antique, silver plated tea strainer, round pierced work design with maker marks, Felix Cheron, Paris.

This is a very stylish rounded tea strainer, ready to use.

These small strainers are very useful and simply push into the spout so, when you pour the tea, the loose leaves are caught in the strainer and not in your cup. It has a pretty pierced work design which acts as the strainer section and lets the tea pass through, without the leaves.

The strainer is in good vintage condition.

There are maker stamps under the rim, please see photo 5. One cartouche says Blanc Mery, the name of their own metal. The initials F C, for Felix Cheron, a silversmith based near Paris who went bankrupt and were taken over by Christofle in 1872. Cheron retained his job as he was well thought of, as a talented jeweller and manager.(silveriit)

A charming silver plated strainer which could add a little French chic to your breakfast best time.
