With the bookplate of Elizabeth Sherman Cameron to the front pastedowns and her ink signature to the front blanks. Elizabeth Sherman Cameron, was the niece of American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman and Senator John Sherman, and a close friend of Henry Brooks Adams.

Edward Robert Bulwer-Lytton, first earl of Lytton, 1831-1891, was the viceroy of India and a poet who wrote under the pseudonym Owen Meredith. "Both during his lifetime and afterwards, Lord Lytton was compared to the ideal 'Renaissance man'. Certainly his talents—as poet, linguist, diplomat, and statesman—were many and varied" -ODNB. Condition Report: In a full calf binding. There is only mild wear to the extremities, with just rubbing and edge wear. The bindings are tight and firm. Internally the pages are generally clean and browning, with foxing to the endpapers. Overall: Very Good best
