Antique French Corbel, Painted Plaster Corbel Wall Shelf from a Church, best Angel Profile & Original Painted Finish

A 19th century French hand painted, plaster corbel or wall shelf. Originating from a church, it would have supported a statue in the past.

It is in its original painted best finish, which is a little chippy but only to be expected for its age, it is really great condition considering its age. Decorated with acanthus leaves and beautiful curvy scrolling casting, it features a gorgeous little angel head and golden wings in the central panel at the front.

It has a piece of plaster missing on the top but it completely stable and cannot be seen. It has been fitted with a wood plinth, which has been covered in fabric. It has a large iron fixing to secure it to a wall. (please see photo's to understand)

It measures 21.5cms tall (8½") by 17cms (7¾") wide at the widest point. The depth when fixed to the wall is 15cms (6")
