Antique/Vintage bound hard cover lot of 5 old library books.

*Prisoners and Captives by Henry Seton Merriman - Copyright 1899

*Little Minister by James M Barrie - no copyright page/date (author of Peter Pan)

*Erewhon Revisited by Samuel Butler - Copyright 1929

*Erewhon Over the Range by Samuel Butler - Copyright 1945 (footnotes in the margins as seen in pics)

The tallest book measures 7" tall, the shortest measure 6 1/8 tall. All five measure 4" across and weigh approximately 3 lbs. This lot of old books are smaller than normal and would be perfect for that small spot or shelf. Perfect for antique book collector. Very old edition of Shakespeare, Fanny Luscomb attended Emerson College in the late 1890's. I don't know if she is the same suffragette as Frances Luscomb, as I could not find any connection other than geography. James Barrie is the author or Peter Pan. The Butler books are collector's items, Erewhon: or, Over the Range is a novel by Samuel Butler which was first published anonymously in 1872. Butler meant the title to be understood as the word "nowhere" backwards even though the letters "h" and "w" are transposed. The book is a satire on Victorian society.
