Large Vintage 1970s French Promotional Ice Bucket best by Clacquesin

A rare french vintage ice bucket directly from the 1970s! Originally an advertising item for the famous french liquor brand Claquesin it was probably distributed to bars and restaurants. Not many of these have survived but this one is in very good vintage condition. Will look absolutely great on a bar cart or on display in a kitchen. Can also be used as a champagne bucket or wine cooler without the lid.

The french liquor Clacquesin was invented in the 1860s by Paul Clacquesin, a pharmacist. It is a dark liquor based on spices and plants, among which pin from Norway. Clacquesin saw its high-days during the Années Folles (1920-1929) and at this time production soared to an impressive 5 million bottles a year. WWII ended the glorious days of Clacquesin. The liquor is still in production today however in a much smaller scale and the old factory has been classified historic monument.

The rather large ice bucket is made out of hard plastic around which an illustrated thick plastic film has been tightly wrapped. It comes with its original lid, also in plastic. The Toulouse-Lautrec inspired illustration, identical on both sides, is still very vivid. The bucket has soft textile lining underneath preventing it from scratching the surface on which it is placed.

This lovely ice bucket is in very good vintage condition: no holes in the plastic lining, no major scratches on any of the plastic surfaces. Only some very minor traces of wear on the inner rim/opening.
